Mine Squadron 11 Detachment Alfa, established on 01 May 1966, performed mine sweeping operations on the rivers of Viet Nam.  Mine Squadron 11 Detachment Alfa with 57’ wooden mine sweeping boats (MSB’s) changed the name to Mine Division 112 in May 1968. In December of 1970 the MSB’s were decommissioned, loaded on a cargo vessel, and returned to MinRon 11 in Long Beach.
